President Donald Trump bashed Republican Rep. Thomas Massie after the libertarian-leaning politician called for his impeachment over airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
"Congressman Thomas Massie of Kentucky is not MAGA, even though he likes to say he is. Actually, MAGA doesnât want him, doesnât know him, and doesnât respect him," Trump wrote on his Truth Social account Sunday (June 22). "He is a negative force who almost always Votes 'NO,' no matter how good something may be. Heâs a simple minded 'grandstander' who thinks itâs good politics for Iran to have the highest level Nuclear weapon, while at the same time yelling 'DEATH TO AMERICA' at every chance they get. Iran has killed and maimed thousands of Americans, and even took over the American Embassy in Tehran under the Carter Administration."
âMassie is weak, ineffective, and votes âNOâ on virtually everything put before him (Rand Paul, Jr.), no matter how good something may be,â he added.
âMassie should drop his fake act and start putting America First, but he doesnât know how to get there â he doesnât have a clue!â Trump continued. âMAGA should drop this pathetic LOSER, Tom Massie, like the plague!
âThe good news is that we will have a wonderful American Patriot running against him in the Republican Primary, and Iâll be out in Kentucky campaigning really hard.â
Last week, Massie worked alongside Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna on a war powers resolution to limit Trump's power to launch a strike on Iran. The measure has gained more steam following the strikes on Saturday (June 21), which Massie called unconstitutional while promoting the measure alongside Khanna during an interview with CBS News' Face the Nation on Sunday.
âI represent part of the coalition that elected President Trump. We were tired of endless wars in the Middle East, and tired of wars in Eastern Europe,â Massie said.
âThey should have called us all back,â he added. âAnd, frankly, we should have debated this war powers resolution that Ro Khanna and I offered, instead of staying on vacation and doing fundraisers, and saying, âOh, well, the presidentâs got this under control, weâre going to cede our constitutional authority.'â
Massie had previously voted against Trump's 'One Big Beautiful Bill Act' when it was in the House of Representatives last month and the two have clashed in the past. The Kentucky Republican had previously opposed a $2 trillion emergency COVID-19 relief measure during Trump's first term in 2020.
