Seattle Mariners catcher and the current Major League Baseball HR leader, Cal Raleigh joins Dan Patrick on The Dan Patrick Show. He talks about his approach at the plate and his place in history with over 30 homeruns before the end of June. He thinks he has one of the better nicknames and confirms that “The Big Dumper” is, in fact, a reference to his prodigious derriere. And he talks about being “sneaky fast” and holding the Mariners’ record for stolen bases by a catcher in a season.
Dan Patrick: “Who gave you that nickname?”
Cal Raleigh: “So Jarred Kelenic, we came up through the Minors, he played with us for a couple years, with the Braves now, he tweeted it out as soon as I debuted and, you know, I think people thought it was really funny at first, and then…”
Dan: “Wait, but what leads him to call you ‘The Big Dumper?’”
Cal: “So I have a, you know, a big butt…”
DAN: (LAUGHTER)
