DP caught up with Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts before their game in Toronto yesterday and he shares their conversation. They talk a little golf as Dave shares his experience playing Augusta National as The Masters gets underway. And he has no doubt Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto both have their eyes firmly on being the first Japanese player to win the Cy Young Award.
Dan Patrick: “How important is this Cy Young to Shohei Ohtani?”
Dave Roberts: “Extremely… I think that with Shohei, he's done everything, you know, on the field. He's carried, not single-handedly, but almost single-handedly, you know, the game of baseball as far as domestic, you know, international, being the face of the game. That's something he hasn't done. And also, with (Yoshinobu) Yamamoto, his teammate and countryman, you know, that's something that one of those guys, I'm sure both those guys want to be the first Japanese-born player, you know, to win a Cy Young.”
